|“Naomi and Jonathan welcomed us at Adelaide airport on the morning of 30 December with a banner saying ‘WILLIAMS FAMILY REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD’. That pretty much sums up the joy we feel being together as a family and we are thankful to God.We came smack at the height of an Aussie summer with sweltering heat. On New Year’s Day, we accepted the invitation by an Aussie family to a New Year party at the beach – with temperatures hovering at 35 degrees C! While members of the Aussie family were enjoying the sun at the beach, most of the Williams were huddled to get whatever shade the tent provided. Each must have thought the other as ‘wierd’.
We began the year with a family altar time in the late evening with a reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness to us as a family over the years. We hope to be consistent in this.
On 28 Dec, the day before we left KL for JB (enroute to Singapore), we visited Abraham’s uncle who was admitted to the Sg Buluh Hospital with a lung infection. He went to be with the Lord 2 days later. Uncle James lived through trying and difficult circumstances for most part of his life. And yet everytime we visited him in KL, we came away encouraged and challenged. Uncle James was always excited about sharing the gospel – anybody and anywhere. This included the medical staff who attended to him. He was selfless and constantly shared whatever little he had to bless others. What an example to follow!
Natalie has enrolled at the University of Adelaide to read Law & Commerce in March. Noel is on a short break before starting Year 12.
We are presently attending an assembly in Adelaide known as Unley Christian Chapel which has an 80-strong congregation and uses ‘The Source’ songbook compiled by Graham Kendrick apart from the believer’s hymn book. So you have a good balance. The worship service is similar to BGC (except that they have a 1-hour Communion Service (no preaching), 1/2 hour tea break, then a 1-hour 2nd service with songs/ hymns and preaching from the pulpit (or time for open sharing when brothers are free to share).
Our 2 years in BGC have been too brief as we were just getting to know some of you better. Natalie and Noel are indeed grateful for the opportunities to serve in the YF and the Worship Team. We treasure the memories of the time spent in warm fellowship over the past 2 years and certainly look forward to returning to our home church during our trips back.”
